As I was sitting through another stuffy and tiring session of "sharing-time" in Primary today, I looked to my left and saw Gigi asleep on Garrit's lap. I caught myself wondering what had happened to my baby. All I could see was a kid- a toddler. When did we become the parents of a child who could barely fit to sleep on her Dad's lap? She's such a great kid and I'm having so much fun getting to know her quirky little personality. But, I still can't figure out when she stopped being a baby and started being a little person.

the first of many summer road-trips

So we went to NM again two weeks ago and it was a very short trip but we seemed to pack lots of fun into just a few days.

We headed to our ranch that is about 45 minutes from Silver City and hopped on our four-wheeler(all 4 on one makes for fun).

We went to the old homestead and carved our names on the wall.

How precious.

Here are some of the gang. There's an aunt, a few cousins, some sisters, and a friend or two. It was a regular family reunion- except that a real one would have been ten times this size.

Garrit even rode a horse- it was a first for him. And I hope that this turns out to be the first of many more very fun road-trips for us this summer.

Well, the entire family came up this weekend for Gigi's baby blessing. We enjoyed everything from a long walk along the Provo River Trail(6 miles actually-thanks mom and dad), to a back-yard BBQ. The blessing was great and then we headed up to Rock Canyon Park for a yummy potluck. It was a very fun weekend.

My Grandpa loved holding Gigi. He would just sit and talk to her when he thought no one was around. It was great.

There are so many cool trails about ten minutes from my grandparents' house. We had so much fun trying new ones every day. We did get lost more than once.

We're still here! Ahhh! I'm starting to feel a little crazy and disconnected from real life. But, my dear grandma is very sick and needs us a little longer. It is so pretty here! I love the desert with it's red earth and crystal sky. We have been hiking every day and I have awesome tan lines. We've also been exploring downtown Silver City and finding great places to eat and shop for antiques. I was supposed to leave today but was persuaded to stay one more week. Hopefully I'll find some cool vintage stuff to make up for the missing of my husband, house, and friends. I love you all!

Here I am in little old Silver City NM and who should be here with me? That's right- it's Lance Armstrong. He's here for The Tour of the Gilas. It's a cycling race that the city put's on every year. It was fun walking around downtown and seeing all the cyclists. And, sorry Garrit, but I think it's time I purchased a road bike!

So, we don't have any furniture yet. But, we did clean out this entire room (it used to be our storage room). We also painted, put up blinds, and added a new light fixture. Wow! It was so fun! Not really. But we have ordered our crib and dresser so we're on our way! You can't really tell from the picture, but the color is the perfect yellow. I don't know how we got so lucky on the first try.

Well, I'm still in my pajamas and it's 5:30! Great! Garrit is camping and I am lazy! I finished "Love in the Time of Cholera" and wouldn't necessarily recommend it. Although, it was very good. Then, I watched various shows on food network and bravo. I then proceeded to think about the basic wardrobe staples recommended by Tim Gunn. And then...DUN-dun-dun...I remembered I was pregnant and live in a 900 square foot home. So, I decided to stop my internet shopping. Don't worry folks- I'm seriously considering jumping on the treadmill right now. So, don't feel too worried about me! And I also made a very delicious middle-eastern inspired salad for lunch. I was trying to copy "the health salad" from The Humus Place in NYC. So, I guess I'm not completely gone. This is a very long and ridiculous post.

Well, I got caught up in all of my glitter-pumpkin glory and forgot to tell the blogging world about the fabulous night I spent with my two dear friends and David Sedaris. Last Monday, Terri, Bianca, and I made the long drive up to Salt Lake. After a lovely dinner at Red Rock- where none of us ate anything due to either a nasty stomach bug, rampant allergies, or a severe head-cold- we headed downtown and enjoyed the soft-spoken musings of David Sedaris. It was lot's of fun! He is absolutely hilarious...and a genius. Seriously, if you haven't read or listened to anything of his, it's time you did! "Me Talk Pretty One Day" is a hilarious book filled with short-stories about his life. Or, just download "Live at Carnegie Hall" from iTunes. Although, beware of his occasional use of profanity. Very funny. Love him.

I actually crafted. Crazy...but these babies turned out so cute. Notice I completed my project on an out-dated gossip magazine. And, I did it all on my miniature kitchen table. I do the flowers at Happy Sumo once a week....yes thats right...EVERY week. It's pretty fun, although sometimes I get sick of it. But, look at the beautiful extras that I brought home a couple weeks ago! Fresh flowers are the best! Except, cleaning the icky water is not very fun. Very smelly- but not very fun.

Look at my tomatoes! Yes, Garrit and I grew them. We have a miniature garden and it has been very exciting to find ripe tomatoes...and one pepper-so far. I ate several of these little lycopene-filled beauties yesterday. In fact, I ate 2 or 3 with every meal...I hope that doesn't cause a problem for me!

Well, I'll do 2 posts today since I'm so bored because Garrit is on a motorcycle trip. All the boys in their family go somewhere every year!!! Dumb dumb dumb! This year, they are going on a loop through Colorado and New Mexico. I'm a little jealous. This is a picture of the trip that I got to go on last October. We went on the Durango Loop. Girls are actually allowed to go on that one! It was really fun. I was only allowed to pack a small bag. I felt like such a grunge. I loved it and can't wait to go again. See, I'm not such a raging cynic after all!

Why, I ask. Why do so many obvious art-haters attend art museums? I went to the MOMA on a leisurely Monday afternoon and what do you think I found? Wonderfully creative works of art? Wrong. I found thousands and thousands of tourists in large groups(and with their many very young children) wandering around speaking and laughing very loudly throughout the building! Were any of them there for the art? No! Why would you want to quietly ponder art in a beautiful museum? Wouldn't you rather snap pictures of every single item on display and then view them at home in a slide show on your personal computer? Well, this is the one and only picture I took in the MOMA. I was standing in a little corner window trying to hide from the ruthless "art lovers."
